Malaria
Each year, there are about 515 million cases of malaria, killing between one and three million people, the majority of this number are young children. Milaria is one of the worst deseases going. To think that so many lives could be saved just by donating money to buy mosquito nets or just donating nets could save lives, mosquito nets are not expensive so there should be much more helping out from more fortunate continents. There is nothing better than the feeling of donating important supplies to the less fortunate. As said on http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/02/us/02malaria.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=slogin Lynda Commale and her daughter, Katherine who is 7, raised money for mosquito nets to donate to African children to prevent them from getting malaria. Just by spending a few dollars on someone but yourself could save a life. I'm sure we are all familiar with American Idol, for the past two seasons they have had idol gives back charity concerts and have raised millions of dollars for family's in Africa. If everyone would just give some money several lives could be saved. It's very sad to me that here in the United States we are very fortunate but we spend our money on pointless things that benifit our entertainment, when we could be spending much less money on saving lives in less fortunate areas.

GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming is the increase of average world temperatures as a result of what is known as the greenhouse effect. Certain gases in the atmosphere act like glass in a greenhouse, allowing sunlight through to heat the earth's surface but trapping the heat as it radiates back into space. As the greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere the Earth gets hotter.
Global warming is effecting our entire world...ESPECIALLY ANTARCTICA. Ice caps, that usually send cool air to the U.S. are melting and not recrystalizing. The poor polar bears are dieing out aswell, because there climate and habitat are being ruined they have been trying to swm to find there old climate and they've been getting worn out and drowning.
Some things you should say goodbye to becuase of global warming:
Say Goodbye to Light and Dry Wines. Warmer temperatures mean grapes in California and France develop their sugars too quickly, well before their other flavors. As a result, growers are forced to either a) leave the grapes on the vines longer, which dramatically raises the alcoholic content of the fruit or b) pick the grapes too soon and make overly sweet wine that tastes like jam.
Say Goodbye to Baseball The future of the ash tree—from which all baseball bats are made—is in danger of disappearing, thanks to a combination of killer beetles and global warming.
Say Goodbye to Christmas TreesThe Pine Bark Beetle, which feeds on and kills pine trees, used to be held in control by cold winter temperatures. Now the species is thriving and killing off entire forests in British Columbia, unchecked.
Say Goodbye to the Beautiful Alaska VacationWarmer weather allowed Spruce Bark Beetles to live longer, hardier lives in the forests of Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where they killed off a section of spruce forest the size of Connecticut.
Say Goodbye to Ski VacationsSlopes on the East Coast last year closed months ahead of time due to warmer weather, some losing as much as a third of their season.

Surviving the Competition
Yahoo is trying everything it can to stay on top. However with it's high top competitors it is getting more difficult everyday. The 2 top competitors are by far google which is the most famous search engine and facebook which is the most popular social website.
Yahoo is trying to go for a new look because new looks always attract more peoples attension. Mr. Yang the co founder of yahoo recently let the audience take a "glimpse" of what the future yahoo will look like. I feel that this was a good decision made by Mr. Yang because he's basically leaving the audience wanting more. In the new Yahoo Mr. Yang has made a new version of the popular e-mail software which has been "transformed into a powerful communications hub". Mr. Yangs goal for Yahoo's future is to turn Yahoo into a "primary online starting point for consumers." Right now i would say that the starting point for people on the internet would be google because when ever you need help with anything you can search it on google and find hundreds of pages of answers. For Yahoo to become the primary source it needs to upgrade it's software, make the page interesting and give a lot of answers and what people want. It also needs to be able to search things and find multible pages of answers.
As said by Mr. Mahaney "it would have been unimaginable five years ago to think that Yahoo's total audience would decline, It is not unimaginable now." New websites are created every day and their are challenges in buisness every day you cannot expect everything to be perfect change is always good and in the end will have a excellent result.
Yahoo needs to become more social and more open! Mr. Weiner a protege of Yahoo said that " be an efficiant starting point, Yahoo needs to offer all the basic tools that users rely on routinely-including e-mail and instan messaging, search, news and maps." In my opinion yes all of those things would be helpful but Yahoo should also become a place where people can become connected to several other things all over the web and be able to explore easily!!

Place for Creativity
I feel that it's not the pen or paper i use..
It's usually what kind of mood I'm in or what i'm thinking/looking at during that time.
What helps me is by looking at scenery and just drawing it.

From Frustration to Learning
Throughout 2007 I have gone through a lot of frustration. At first with HTML codes were very difficult it was so hard to remember all the different codes so I found myself having to look back at my notes constantly and it would be hard because I couldn't always find what I was looking for. I have gotten a little better because we have been using the codes a lot in class to make severall different web pages, and now I have memorized some of the more important codes

Making A Difference!
Laura has been helping out greatly. She has been donating hats and coats to underprivlidged children who don't get anything for the holidays. She has been cleaning her fish bowl because it contained yucky water and by just doing little things like this make the world a better place. She helps her parents around the home like cooking, including things like chopping mushrooms with her aunt. Some of you might be going to warm tropical places over the winter break however guess what Laura's doing, she's helping her friend Andrew make a difference by volunteering to mail a lot of stuff for the Greater New York State Tourette's Syndrome Association. They are having a fundraiser and they need lables put on about 500 letters.
This makes me think that i can definitley help out around the house more by possibly helping cook dinner, feeding my dogs, washing the dishes. However i can also do more with the community like volunteer work, community service and donating things. This christmas I am going to the lost letter box where kids send letters to santa clause saying what they want and I am going to get the things they want/need and send it to them for the holidays!

Fake Kidnapping mystery
A boy named Evan Trembley is a 15 year old boy who has supposivley been missing for 2 weeks. People have been getting emails about this boy and have been sending it to everyone one to help because of the sad story. However when you look up his name and search on the internet you find out that the kidnapped boy had never actually be kidnapped and that it was a scam to impress his friends. This tells you that you should always double check things you hear before you start spreading things.
When i found out that this kidnapping was fake it really disgusted me that someone would do something this serious just to impress his friends. This fake scandal was not a joke and definitley not funny.
